Regular Monthly REI Meeting: Mt. Kilimanjaro with John Newhouse

Details
Mt. Kilimajaro is a large dormant volcano in Tanzania. It is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain above sea level in the world, at 5,895 m (19,341 ft) above sea level and 4,900 m (16,100 ft) above its plateau base. It is also the highest volcano in the Eastern Hemisphere.
For our September meeting, Nashville Backpacker organizer John Newhouse will show and tell us about his adventure climbing Kili earlier this year. It's a bucket list item for many people, and should be a very entertaining and interesting presentation.
John has been a valued member and organizer for Nashville Backpacker Meetup since 2023. He has organized and/or attended dozens of fun trips with our group, and this presentation promises to be worth the trip for sure. Come hang out with us and hear about his grand adventure!

Nashville Backpacker Meetup meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Brentwood REI community room. Organizers and guest speakers will present on a variety of backpacking and outdoor related topics. These meetings are free and open to the public. This page will be updated with the specific topic and presenter a few weeks prior to the event. Attendees are encouraged to interact with questions, thoughts, and their own personal experiences on the topic. If you have a something specific you'd like to see a presentation on, let us know!
