Managing app configuration across distributed systems with etcd

The seventh installment of NE-Dev will be in Boho One on the evening of Thursday July the 14th. Talks include:

Blockchains, Ethereum & Smart Contracts – Glynn Bird

Blockchains are not just Bitcoin, they are a means of running apps and storing data with no infrastructure. Find out how Ethereum is making it simple to create Smart Contracts that live on a blockchain where the contract is written in code.

Glynn is an experienced developer who began his career in the field of Research and Development, programming Control & Instrumentation for the Steel industry. He then moved on to web development creating database, business directory and search applications primarily using SQL (PHP & ElasticSearch) and latterly using NoSQL (Node.js & Cloudant).

Modern C++ - Alex Paterson

Over the last few years, C++ has evolved to include higher-level programming concepts that make it much easier to create high-performance applications without shooting yourself in the foot. We'll take a look at some of these new concepts to demonstrate how expressive and simple modern C++ code can be, even when dealing with concurrency and multi-threading.
