Picnic in Footscray Park and Walk Along the Maribyrnong River

Details

Hi again Neurosparkles, as unfortunately the walk today cannot go ahead, I am planning another walk (fingers crossed weather will be okay!) along the beautiful Maribyrnong River, as well as, weather-permitting, a picnic in the park. As the other event, the plan is to meet at Footscray Station, but then for those who want food, we can pick up a banh mi, sandwich, anyone else you'd like to take away, or you can BYO food and snacks, and make our way by tram (or walk) to Footscray Park, a scenic Edwardian era park (like a mini-botanic gardens, for those who haven't been), by the river. There we will have a picnic and then make our way along the river to Pipemakers Park, Maribyrnong. There are some fine views and an artificial wetland for birdlife-spotting. After that we can walk to Highpoint Shopping Centre, where you can take a tram back to Footscray station.

If it's light rain and not too windy, there are undercover areas with tables in the park where we can still eat. If it's heavier rain, we will cancel the walking part again and find somewhere indoors to eat.

Look forward to seeing you there!
