Motivation is the inner drive that pushes us to take action, pursue goals, and keep going—even when things are hard. It can come from within (like curiosity, values, or passion) or from outside (like rewards, deadlines, or approval). Motivation isn’t always steady—it rises and falls depending on our mood, energy, or life situation. Understanding what motivates us can help us make better choices, stay focused, and feel more connected to what we’re doing. In this discussion, we’ll explore where motivation comes from, how it changes, and what helps us stay driven over time.
- What motivates you most in your daily life, and has that changed over time?
- How do you stay motivated when you don’t feel inspired or energized?
- What’s the difference between internal (intrinsic) and external (extrinsic) motivation in your experience?
- Can you think of a time when motivation came easily—what made that possible?
- What role does purpose or meaning play in staying motivated?
- How do deadlines, pressure, or competition affect your motivation—for better or worse?
- What kinds of goals keep you motivated, and which ones tend to lose your interest?
- Do you think discipline or habits are more important than motivation when it comes to consistency?
- How does motivation relate to confidence, fear, or doubt?
- How do you motivate others in your life—friends, coworkers, family?
- What are some tools, environments, or routines that help you reconnect with your motivation?
These are just some of the questions we will discuss during our meetup. No preparation needed, just bring yourself and a willingness to listen and share your thoughts.
The meetup will be structured in a way to promote small group discussion so everyone has a chance to listen, be heard, and really dive into the discussion.

Due to the increased group size, we're making a few changes to how our discussions will be structured.
We'll arrange tables of 6 participants each, without a moderator. When you arrive, please gather at the front near the escalator. Once enough people are assembled, I'll escort each group of 6 to their table to begin the discussion, and continue doing this as more participants arrive.
Each table will receive a sheet containing the topic description and discussion questions. Feel free to take a photo or refer to the event page to have your own copy handy.
The official event time is from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, but some of us stay longer, transitioning into informal conversations beyond the topic. You're welcome to join any other ongoing discussions once your initial group wraps up and members start leaving.
Please do not go directly to a table upon arrival; instead, wait at the front area by the escalator. This approach will help us manage seating smoothly and ensure everyone enjoys an organized and engaging discussion experience.

Every week on Thursday until August 28, 2025
