Get ready for an adventure through one of Newtown Square’s most beautiful and historic landscapes! The Newtown Township Trails & Greenways Committee, Chester-Ridley-Crum Watersheds, and Garrett Williamson are teaming up for a morning that celebrates science, sustainability, and history.

Our guide for the day is Walt Cressler—local geologist, paleobotanist, and public historian—who will bring the land to life with stories from “deep time,” revealing the ancient secrets beneath our feet!

What’s in Store:

  • Meet at the 1794 Barn, a functioning livestock shelter and meeting space
  • Explore Urban Roots, a thriving 26-acre CSA farm
  • Hike GW’s scenic forest trails with Walt’s fascinating “deep time” perspective
  • Meet the animals! Charming sheep, adorable goats, alpacas, and Willow the horse will be waiting to say hello

It’s part nature walk, part farm tour, and part science field trip — all rolled into one fantastic morning!

Looking forward to hiking, learning, and enjoying the land with you!
Expect to walk around 2.5 miles total on this private property – from the historic barn, up and down some inclines through fields and woods, and back to the barn. Please wear suitable footwear - and a little sunscreen couldn’t hurt!

This event is Free, and promises to be a fun, engaging morning. We hope you’ll join us for this unique outdoor experience!

Please register here, as well as on GW's site to help us welcome you!
