Your Personal Site In AWS, Web/Service Workers, Visualizing App Bundles, Oh My!!

Details

Are you missing packed ng-sydney nights?

Not any more!

The May meeting is all about expanding your horizon in as many ways as we can fit in one night.

Let's see how we are going to do it:

  • Have you ever used Angular to create a non work website, and deployed all by yourself to the AWS cloud?

  • Have you ever used the thing you hear about in some conference talks called Service Workers? Did you ever write multi-threaded JavaScript apps?

  • Have you ever visualized what's in the JavaScript files that your bundler generates?

  • Have you learned about the new types in TypeScript like Pick and Partial?

It's about time we look into doing all of that! Make sure you do not miss out.

This is going to be AMAZING!

RSVPs

It's simple, pretty logical, and really helpful for our venue preparations. We just need you to:

  1. RSVP super quick if you are coming

  2. And update your RSVP status to "No" if you can't make it, in case anyone is on a waitlist

SESSIONS

-- Running Your Personal Website In the Cloud With Angular & AWS (by Kahlee Thomson)

This session will look at what detail is important in your personal site, and how you can get it up and running quickly and efficiently, using Angular and Amazon Web Services.

-- Using Angular Modules as Web/Service Workers (by Bipin Paul Bedi)

Do you know what Web Workers and Service Workers are? Have you used them before? With Angular? Let's look into how to achieve true JavaScript multi-threading.

-- Lazy Loading & Analyzing Your Bundle Content (by Aliaksei Kuncevic)

A quick intro on how to better organize stuff in `app.module` by creating the core, shared and feature modules. Then how to lazy load components with a small demo and then how to analyze the bundle content.

-- Using Partial<> & Pick<> In Tests, Or Whatever We All Choose To Talk About... (by Meligy and Everyone)

Open Talk is always about what everyone chooses to talk about, whether ask a question, or share a trick or piece of exciting news. This one is no exception.

And like always, Meligy will have a few starter / backup tips as well. This time we'll talk about the not-very-well known features introduced in TypeScript 2.1+, and he used them in tests. Make sure to interrupt, and take the conversation to where it's most useful for everyone.
