Winter & Dark Beer Tasting & Beer Exchange
Details
Winter & Dark Beer Tasting + Mystery Beer Exchange
(Because seasonal depression pairs best with high ABV)
The cold is here. The daylight is gone. Your flannel sheets have claimed you. You’re rewatching shows you ignored all summer and wondering if Meetup is slowly flatlining. Probably!
So instead of doom-scrolling, awkward yoga breathing, or politely pretending you enjoy holiday obligations — let’s drink together like civilized adults who brought snacks.
Welcome to the Fifth Annual Winter & Dark Beer Tasting Event — possibly the last one I ever host in the PNW. (Show up if you want the dirty deets.)
This is a limited-seating, private-residence event, so if you RSVP, actually show up. Don’t awaken my inner Scrooge. He keeps a list.
THIS IS A 2-IN-1 EVENT (READ THIS PART SOBER)
PART 1: Winter & Dark Beer Tasting
Everyone brings 20oz of the same beer/cider to share.
Tasting beers must be the same style category:
- Winter / Seasonal beers or ciders
- Dark beers (stouts, porters, dark ales, etc.)
Pumpkin beers are allowed.
PART 2: Mystery Beer Exchange
Bring an additional 20oz of ANY craft beer.
This beer must be concealed from view upon arrival.
Failure to conceal = $5 surcharge + relentless sarcasm all night.
WHAT COUNTS AS WHAT
20oz means:
- (2) x 12oz cans/bottles
- (2) x 16oz cans/bottles
- Or one bottle 20oz or larger
Winter / Seasonal Beer or Cider:
Must reference winter, holiday, Christmas, or seasonal themes.
Typically released Nov–Feb.
Pumpkin beers qualify.
Craft Beer:
Locally made or independent.
Not mass-produced.
Concealed means hidden from sight. If I can tell what it is, you did it wrong.
FOOD & BEHAVIOR
Shareable snacks are optional but appreciated.
Cups provided.
Seasonal cheer encouraged — disruptive behavior is not.
Do not RSVP and bail last minute. Communicate like an adult.
Seasonal cheers to all — and extra cheers to those I get to clink glasses with.
