Dune landscape loop from Meijendel nature park 23-02-2025.
Join us for an invigorating coastal hike on the sandy beach of Scheveningen and around the Meijendel nature park. Be amazed with the Dutch dunes and their mastery of water management in the reservoirs within the nature park.
Gathering point is at the bottom of the steps of the Scheveningen pier. We will leave at 10:40. This is a round trip so we will end at the same point. For those who are interested, we will go to Den Haag Centrum to find a place for a post-hike drink.
Admission fee: 1,- Euro cash on the day of the walk or via Tikkie. Pints are also considered legal tender in this group.
On this walk we will see the following things:
- Dunes, lots of sand
- Spots for bird watching in the water reservoirs
- Dunea Visitor Center
This walk is about 14.4 km with some paved road mixed with dirt tracks and sand. At the half way point we will have a break. There aren't any places in the nature park in terms of coffee or food so bring a packed lunch and drinks.
In case of extreme bad weather, no interest or any other reason the walk can be cancelled.
Who should sign up:
- Anyone who is reasonably fit and can hike at a pace of 5-6 km an hour.
- People comfortable walking on uneven terrain and climbing dunes.
What to bring:
- Decent shoes: with good gripping/traction soles
- Plenty of water is essential
- Packed Lunch
- Some snacks
- Hat - for sunny weather
- Raincoat
If you feel like you will be late then please inform in advance. We will not wait for latecomers who have not given prior notice and only when reasonable.
