The Bamboo Forest

Join us as we venture out on what is arguably one of the most beautiful spots on Maui, The Bamboo Forest Waterfall Hike (local name: Na'ili'ili-Haele).
*Being a headlamp or flashlight as we will be exploring a cave in the area.
If you are not afraid of the dark, willing to trapse though a maze of bamboo, engage in rock hopping, trekking through wet slippery river rocks, using a ladder and ropes to scale up the side of a waterfall, and then swimming up-stream to make it to the fourth and final waterfall, then this event is for you.
Note that the goal is to make it to the 4th fall. Even if you have never been, if you have an adventurous spirit, some athletic ability, are not afraid of heights, trust your grip, and can swim, then you can make it. If not, no worries, as others will be hanging back at the second waterfall.

Where to Meet
We want to get an early start to secure parking. If you wish to carpool, let's meet at the Haiku community center, ready to go by 8:25 (the fewer vehicles we bring the better). We have a goal of arriving at the Bamboo Forest Trailhead by 9:00ish.

What to Bring
Footwear with grip that can (and will) get wet
Water
Sun protection
Optional: snack, camera, bug-spray, towel.
And don't forget your mandatory Aloha Spirit!

Due to the occasional break-in, no one should be leaving large bags with personal items visible in vehicles. if you have extra items in a bag, and you're in my truck, you can leave them in the bed of the truck if necessary. 👍🏽
