People will gather at 11 a.m. at Malcolm X Park, at 16th St. NW and W St NW, and begin marching down 16th Street to Freedom Plaza and then to the White House. Local organizations are leading this event and have safety marshals and security protocols in place.
Here's what we’re marching for:
An immediate withdrawal of federal troops from the District
An end to the federalization of the local police department
The right to protect our communities in the future, permanently
While the Trump administration spews lies, we know what this hostile takeover is really about: punishing and controlling the people who resist Trump’s billionaire-backed agenda to stifle resistance. But we also know we are powerful when we come together, and that's what we need to do to ensure all of us can live freely!
*During the event, ALL participants are asked to help create a peaceful, nonviolent space, to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values, and to act lawfully. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to the event.
