Details
Terry Janosick, local historian, will guide us through some ruins by Beaver Run. You can enjoy that tour and do some hiking. The meeting spot for the tour is FR 449 parking on Saturday, November 8th, meeting at 10 AM. FR 449 parking is located about 3 miles NE of Rt 666 and about 3.5 miles SW of FR 116 on FR 449. There is parking just to the east of the trail or just to the west at the intersection of FR 449 with FR 450. You can also follow this link, https://arcg.is/0vzjje , to the spot on the NCTA interactive map or to https://maps.app.goo.gl/DfkdKYvfYyfDkpsQ9 in Google Maps. GPS coordinates are 41.6025 -079.2637. These coordinates can be put directly into Google Maps search.
We will do an out and back hike north on the NCT. It is about 2 miles to go to Beaver Run area and back or 10.4 miles for those that want to hike to the Queen Creek shelter and back. We’ll also pass the Coalbed Run campsite. The length of the hike can be adjusted based on the desires of the participants.
Please come prepared for the hike dressed in appropriate layers for the weather, and carrying your own food and water. Friendly dogs are welcome. Be sure to wear safety flourescent orange, including any dogs, since it is the fall hunting season. We hope to see you down the trail.
