Pokey Pedaler Bike Ride Seabrook to Newburyport and Back

Details

Note: this ride is at a slower pace than a lot of other Meetup bike rides.
Come join in for an approximate 12 or 16 mile bike ride on the mostly-paved Marsh and Clipper City trails located near the NH seacoast.

We’ll begin our ride in Seabrook where we’ll access the Marsh trail from the parking lot at 28 Collins Street (see parking info below). After about 4 miles, we’ll connect to the Clipper City trail and ride on the bridge over the Merrimack River (involves a hill and adjacent vehicle traffic) for approximately 2 more miles ending at the Newburyport train station. Then we’ll turn around and ride back to our starting point in Seabrook.
Optional add-on at the end of the ride: After we arrive back at the Seabrook parking lot, riders who are interested can ride 2 more miles down Route 286 to Tripoli’s for conversation and pizza/pastry. And if you want to further indulge, Dunlap’s ice cream is right next door to Tripoli’s. We’ll ride on the side of the road in the wide breakdown lane, but know that there likely will be some vehicle traffic whizzing past us. After we enjoy pizza/pastry/ice cream, another two miles back to the parking lot will bring the ride total to about 16 miles. Those who don’t want to bike ride on Route 286, can load their bikes when we return to the Collins Street parking lot and drive to Tripoli's.
This will be an easy ride with an average speed of about 8-9 mph. Estimated biking time is approximately 2 hours. We will bike as a group and will stop at least once for a break.
If you plan to go to Tripoli’s and/or Dunlap’s, it would be a good idea to have some cash with you in case they don’t take credit cards.

Required: Bike Helmet
Bike in good working order
Water
Ride is limited to 8 riders; No guests.
This ride will also be posted in the Rockingham Outdoor and More Meetup. Please sign up in only one of the groups.

Parking/meeting point: Park for free in the large parking lot at 28 Collins Street in Seabrook (look for the very tall Seabrook water tower). When you enter the lot, head to the right rear corner which is where we’ll access the Marsh trail.
Wheels on trail at 11:00am! Please arrive early enough to get yourself setup and be ready to ride on time.
