The trail has several under and over sections with deadfall and steep sections. You will be rewarded with fantastic views from the exposed peak of South Needs of all the surrounding mountain ranges, and the city in the distance. The further sections that venture out onto the Needles get more overgrown.
*Class 3 scrambling
*Backcountry hiking through dense bushes

Hard, 16.7km trail (out and back) + 4km (roundtrip from Kilmer Park) = 20.7km total, 1801 meters of elevation gain

Recommended Gear:
- Hiking Boots or Hiking Shoes
- Hiking Pack + 8 bottles of water (4 liters) + Lunch + Snacks + 2nd Lunch + 2nd Snacks
- (If raining) Rain Jacket
- (Optional: if sunny) Sun Glasses, Sun Screen, and Hat
- Headlamp + Spare Set of Batteries + Fully Charged Cellphone
- (Recommended) Long-sleeve T-shirt + Long Pants + Mosquito Spray and/or Mosquito Head Net
