Explore the Ocklawaha Prairie Restoration Area

Details
Learn where the expression “Crocked as the Ocklawaha” comes from as we hike in the Ocklawaha Prairie Restoration Area, part of the St. Johns Water Management District. We’ll be joined by members of the Big Cypress FTA Chapter, who are camping for the weekend at Silver Springs S/P. We will follow the White Trail across the foot bridge into the impounded Restoration Area, visit the Observation Tower, and then backtrack towards the parking area, and hike to the riverside camping area. This will hike will be approximately 4-miles long.
Please bring bug repellent, water, sun protection, and shoes that you do not mind getting wet. Hiking poles and snacks area also encouraged. There is no payment to park or entrance fee. We will be following Leave no Trace rules.
