Details

You must read the following NVHC Sign-in Sheet Statement/Liability Disclaimer, https://nvhc.com/signin.pdf and then answer the question that you will see when you RSVP with "I accept" to be permitted on the hike.

A ~9½ mile hike with 1600' of elevation gain, we start from the parking lot in front of Skyland Lodge. From the parking lot, we will hike south on the AT for 4 miles to the Salamander Trail and then climb to the summit of Hawksbill, the highest peak in the park. We'll return using the Crescent Rock, Limberlost and White Oak Canyon trails where we'll see the best example of columnar basalts in the park.

We hike at a pace of 2.5 mph while moving.

Dogs are not permitted on this hike as they are not allowed on the Limberlost trail.

Hikers are welcome to organize carpools, but the hike leader will meet you at Skyland at 8:30. It is an 1hr 30min drive from the Centreville Park and Ride to Skyland, so you should plan to leave there by 6:45 to be there 15 min early.
