Intro to Whitewater

Details
Here's your chance to take your kayaking to the next level. I'm leading, with a little help from my friends, an introduction to whitewater kayaking workshop. Participants will learn the basics of whitewater kayaking - ferrying, peal outs, eddy-outs, surfing. Lock 29 is a great place to learn these skills. We'll take our time going on class I rapids over two-miles. We'll stop at the rapids to play in them and practice the basic skills.
Paddlers should feel comfortable maneuvering in moving water. A PFD is an absolute requirement. Helmets and spray skirts are desirable but not required (a bike helmet will suffice). Best to use a recreation or whitewater boat - leave the long boats at home. Also leave pets at home. Bring a bailing pump. Be prepared for a possible wet exit. This is a pretty safe stretch of river. You might flip but you'll only get wet.
Arrive at the put-in at Lock 29 in Peninsula, Ohio by 10:30, be ready to shuttle by 10:45. Any questions call me at 216-496-4906.
