Special Sashiko Sewing Event at OlyMEGA Makerspace

Details
During Art's Walk in April, I was asked if I knew how use the Japanese style of embroidery called sashiko. Since then, I have been practicing this style of embroidery and am happy to share what I have learned. Traditional boro and sashiko is done with white thread on an indigo fabric.
For the class I will have a variety of colored thread/floss of the proper weight for this type of embroidery, large eyed needles, plain muslin fabric, pale tan checkered fabric, denim scraps, fabric markers, and rulers.
I will bring some library books covering the topic that have helped me as well as online links for further knowledge.
Normally this would be the night of Sewing and Craft Night and people are still welcome to bring in their own projects.
If you are interested in learning something new, or just looking for a place to work with other people whose interests intersect with yours, come see us at OlyMEGA!
