Beat The Heat - Elk Knob State Park Hike and A Fun After TBD

Details

High in the 60's on Elk Knob Saturday and Sunshine in the morning.

There's Awesome Views From Both Sides Of The Summit
The summit trail is about 4 miles total with just over 1,000 ft vertical, I would rate it in the easy side of difficult range. For those that want to join me, I plan to come at least half way back down and go back up for a total of 6 miles and 1,500 ft vertical making it difficult. Everyone else is welcome to head on to The After and we'll not be far behind you.

Bring water and a trail lunch or snack.

This will probably change to somewhere we can be inside or under a shelter in the Boone NC area, possible storms in the afternoon.

There will be a carpool/caravan from the parking lot next to Olive Garden 438 Talbert Rd Mooresville pulling out at 7:30 AM, please be on time. Let me know if you're meeting there.

Elk Knob State Park
Elk Knob State Park features one of the highest peaks in North Carolina’s high country at 5,520 feet and one of the parks system’s finest trails to the spectacular views from the summit. Other trails are being developed at this relatively new park. Despite its location in an area known for winter weather, the park attempts to stay open throughout the winter and is the only one in the system offering cross-country skiing (although skiers must provide their own equipment). At lower elevations, there are primitive, backcountry campsites for individuals and for groups. Elk Knob is an outstanding park for experiencing all seasons in the mountain environment
