Let's start the year grounded, moving and connected.
This New Year hike is a continuation of the hiking challenge I introduced during previous group hikes with OA. It is designed for individuals who have been actively participating and are ready to continue, building endurance, confidence, and trail skills.
Meeting location:
Morrow Mountain State Park-Visitor Center Parking Lot
GPS 35.36545, -80.09191
Distance/Difficulty:
5.7 miles/Moderat/Elevation gain 1000 ft
This hike is recommended for:
Participants who completed the previous challenge hikes successfully
Hikers who are comfortable with moderate mileage and varied terrain with elevation gain 1000 ft. (note most of the elevation is towards backend of the hike.)
Individuals looking to continue challenging themselves in a supportive group setting.
Maintain Average Pace of 25 minutes, stops every 45 minutes
New participants are absolutely welcome if you feel your current hiking skill level, fitness, and trail awareness align with a moderate, progression based hike.
What to Expect
A steady intentional pace
Moderate terrain and elevation changes with most of it last quarter of the hike.
Group accountability and trail awareness
A focus on personal growth, not speed.
The is not a beginner introduction hike. The goal is to build on previous experiences while still hiking as a group and supporting one another.
What to bring:
2 liter of water
hiking poles ( elevation gain 1000 ft)
Health snacks (15 minute break at the top)
Important Notes
Please be honest with yourself about your hiking readiness. (note there will be plenty of opportunities to grow on the upcoming hikes)
We hike together and finish together
Proper footwear, water and preparation are required.
