FREE Dragon Boat Paddle 101 Clinic

Details

Hey Slackers,

Are you ready for something completely different? As some of you may or may not know, I've taken up Dragon Boating and want to share the hobby with you. Our team is looking to grow and this is a great chance to see what it's all about.

"What's Dragon Boating?", you ask. The fastest growing team water sport in the world. Imagine you and twenty of your closest friends paddling in sync competing against like minded competitors.

If you're interested, in trying something new, please Click here to also sign up for the event on our site.

Adverse weather conditions will cancel.
Restrooms are available on site.

Come dragon boat with us for two hours on Lake Washington. We welcome all levels of experience. We will start off on land showing you the basic paddling techniques, then spend a hour on the water learning to paddle a dragon boat. Drinks and a small snack will be provided after the session. Adverse weather conditions will cancel. Restrooms are available on site.
Latecomers may not be allowed on the boat if they missed the land training and safety briefing - both are important for everyone to have the best experience on the water.
6:15 Guests arrive; confirm waivers, hand out paddles, land training, safety briefing
6:45 Get guests geared up, head to the dock
6:66 Learn to paddle !
7:55 Return to dock and unload
8:00 Refreshments

Directions:
We meet on the dock of Renton Rowing Center
(note this is a different team and location that the Paddle 101 we did in June)

  • Use Cedar River Trail Park as your GPS destination.
  • Make sure it directs you to N 6th St (not N 8th St - that will take you into Boeing parking lots). Ignore the notice that says the park closes at dusk - over the last few years that has not happened.
  • You'll go down the roadway in the park that is between the Cedar River (which you won't be able to see), and Boeing. Go right to the end where the road essentially does a u-turn. Many of us park just after the u-turn on the river side. Join us around the corner at the rowing center. If you see people wearing PFD’s or carrying paddles, that will be us!

Please no last minute cancellations.

Note: I've cross-posted this on the WAM meetup. We have capacity for 10 guest paddlers. As folks sign-up on the other site, I'll reduce the number of available slots here.
