Summer Reading Series : The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

Details

Nora feels that her life is ordinary and monotonous and she feels unwanted and unaccomplished. She has lot her job, her best friend, her brother and her cat. After an attempted suicide, she finds herself in a library between life and death where each book represents a different life she could have lived based on different choices. She explores these alternate realities to discover if any of them are truly better than her own. The novel reflects on the regret, the nature of a well lived life and the importance of finding meaning in the present. The book takes a look at depression, regret and the meaning of happiness and sadness.

We'll meet at Spuntinis. The restaurant is run by a husband and wife who started baking together (covid?) and then sold at farmer's markets before opening the baker. it's a great story and the baked goods are delicious. It's a nice area to walk around in and there's a local bookstore down the street as well. I'll reserve cornettos (they sell out fast) and are fabulous dunked in a cappuccino.
