Save the Date : Shenandoah and The Green Valley Book Fair
Details
I'm posting this as a save the date.
Last October, some of us visited the Shenandoah for leaf peeping and some vineyard touring.
I'd like to make a weekend trip a twice a year event. Several members wanted to visit the Green Valley Book Fair near Harrisonburg.
I haven't firmed up an itinerary, just throwing the date out there.... if you have any interest, please RSVP so I have some idea about numbers. Let me know if there is something in particular you would like to do in the area.
Thank you!
UPDATE:
I am providing an approximate itinerary.
I've located an Airbnb off highway 81 between Harrisonburg and Staunton. It's in the country with a fire pit and hot tub. There are two twin and two queen beds. It's convenient and reasonably priced.
Saturday:
Leave the Williamsburg area about 9:00 AM.
Stop for lunch on the way. Open to suggestions.
Green Valley Book Fair
Vineyard
Dinner and explore downtown Harrisonburg
Buc-ees. (The Airbnb is near the only Bucees in Virginia. I've never been to one. I'd like to see this piece of Americana!)
Cocktails and settle in for the evening.
Sunday
Breakfast - TBD
Scenic Railway through the Shenandoah - 3 hour trip departs from downtown Staunton at 10:30 am ($65.00)
Late lunch - Old House Cosmopolitan Grill - leans toward German. It looks great.
Explore downtown Staunton
Head home.
