Talk Title: Securing the Future of AI: Introducing the new OWASP GenAI Security Project and the LLM Top 10
Abstract:
The rise of Generative AI, particularly large language models (LLMs), is changing how applications are built, deployed, and interacted with. But with this innovation comes risk. From prompt injection and data leakage to autonomous agent threats and exploit generation, LLMs introduce an entirely new attack surface.
This talk introduces the OWASP GenAI Security Project, recently promoted to Flagship status by the OWASP Foundation. We’ll cover the latest release of the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications, walk through real-world vulnerabilities and their mitigations, and highlight other open-source resources developed by the GenAI Security Project to support security professionals in securing these systems.

We're always looking for presenters and topics for future meetings - contact John (john.dileo@owasp.org) if you have an idea for a topic, or a presentation you'd like to make. That way, it won't always be John talking about what he's been working on recently.
The Hamilton OWASP NZ Meetup takes place on the third Tuesdays of March, May, July, September, and November. There is no Meetup in January, as our members enjoy their holidays.
