Wombat Forest Bushcraft & Survival Meetup (Optional Communal Dinner)
Join us for a 2-day camping and hiking adventure based at Wombat Forest Camping Ground in the heart of Wombat State Forest! Explore scenic trails, learn practical bushcraft survival skills, and enjoy the calm of nature with fellow outdoor enthusiasts. Optional communal dinner around the campfire to wind down after a day of adventure.

Day 1 β€” Saturday
πŸ•› 12:00 PM β€” Arrival & Lunch
Meet at Wombat Forest Camping Ground picnic area. Set up your camping gear, enjoy your lunch, and connect with the group.
πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ 1:00 PM β€” Wombat Heritage Trail Walk
A gentle 4.5 km loop trail through peaceful forest and historic sites. Easy to moderate terrain, approx 1.5–2 hours.
β›Ί 3:30 PM β€” Return to Camp & Setup
Get back to camp, finish tent setup, and prepare for the evening activities.
πŸ”₯ 4:30 PM β€” Bushcraft Survival Skills Session
Hands-on lesson covering fire-starting with natural materials, shelter building, water purification, and safe firewood collection.
🍽️ 6:00 PM β€” Campfire Dinner & Social Time
Cook your own food. Relax, share stories, and enjoy games by the fire.

Day 2 β€” Sunday
πŸŒ„ 7:00 AM β€” Morning Pack-up & Breakfast
Rise early, have breakfast, and pack up your campsite.
πŸ₯Ύ 8:30 AM β€” Longer Hike β€” Wombat-Macedon Walking Track (Section)
Moderate 8–12 km return hike with forest views, gentle climbs, and wildlife spotting opportunities. Around 4–5 hours including breaks.
πŸš— 1:30 PM β€” Wrap Up & Return Home
Return from the hike, pack your gear, and head home. Optional lunch stop en route.

  • Toilets
  • Picnic tables
  • Designated fire pits (subject to fire restrictions)
  • Limited tent & mattress hire available (reserve early)

  • Hiking boots/shoes
  • Camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, mattress)
  • Weather-appropriate clothing & rain gear
  • Day pack with water (1.5L+) and snacks
  • Sun protection and insect repellent
  • Personal cooking gear if preferred
  • Optional: games, camera, fire-starting tools
