The Great North Walk 3 - Hornsby to Mt Kuring-gai 25 KM

Embark on the most demanding leg yet in our Great North Walk series! Some details about this challenging 25-kilometre+ trek, read this all before RSVP:

  • Difficulty: Medium to Hard, moderate pace and long distance, intended for experienced hikers. Only exit option - Crosslands Reserve.
  • Start: Hornsby Train Station (9:10 AM), meet 5 min before at Stand D - Exit via Station St.
  • End: Mt. Kuring-Gai Railway Station
  • Route: Expect frequent ups and downs along wide tracks, detours through streets, and a scenic descent into Galston Gorge with challenging descents over rocks. The path flattens near Crosslands Reserve, leading to a steep ascent to Mount Ku-ring-gai, with sparse trail markings in some areas. Important:

  • Be prepared for a strenuous hike. Wear proper hiking shoes (possibly waterproof), bring ample hydration (2+ litres, only refill at Crosslands), snacks/lunch, bug repellent, first-aid kit if possible, sunscreen, hat, and weather protection.
  • RSVP only if you can attend and won't change last minute, unreasonable absence or frequent last-minute changes will prevent you from joining future events.
