Join us for dinner and a discussion of the book Yellowface by Rebecca F. Kuang.

Restaurant is TBA at the moment; I will update with a location once it's finalized.

Summary:

Yellowface follows June Hayward, a struggling white writer who steals the manuscript of her recently deceased, wildly successful Chinese-American acquaintance, Athena Liu. After publishing the book, titled The Last Front, under the ethnically ambiguous pseudonym "Juniper Song," June is propelled to literary stardom but becomes haunted by her actions. The satirical thriller explores themes of plagiarism, cultural appropriation, race in the publishing industry, and social media toxicity as online accusations and June's own paranoia threaten to expose her deception and dismantle her stolen success
