Terranea Dance Party

Join us in the Lobby Lounge at Terranea for dancing to the music of Hugo Fernandes. Hugo has been performing for over twenty years in Los Angeles and Orange County. His regular gigs include The Jonathan Club in DTLA, The Fairmont Breaker's Hotel in Long Beach, and Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, as well as Terranea Resort. He's super popular for private parties, weddings, and charity events, as well.

Hugo lives up to his reputation as a local favorite. He is terrific for dancing Freestyle or Partner. He plays a broad variety of danceable music genres including: Latin (Salsa, Rumba, Cha Cha, ...); Samba; Swing; Country Western; Night Club Two Step; Hustle; Rock; Slow dancing; ...). He's a one-man band. He has over 1000 songs on his song list. And he loves filling requests!

Terranea is awesome. The Lobby Lounge has cushy seating. The adjacent oceanfront terrace with its cozy fire pits makes for satisfying socializing and the high energy bar has crafty cocktails.

We are starting when Hugo begins - at 7pm. We'll get there early to snag some seating. If you have time to fill before 7pm you can arrive early and enjoy the beautiful place and/or have something to eat from the Lounge menu.

THE EVENING

This is a 'hosted' event within the setting of the public lounge. We meet and greet everyone and facilitate introductions. Most of the attendees are new to or planning to do more social dancing. We do both freestyle and partner dancing. This is a 'real world' dance opportunity - a terrific musician playing danceable music in a large lounge for relaxing in which we can dance. This isn't a class; we don't do anything from the 'front of the room'; but we don't just leave you to navigate on your own. We dance with everyone and often lead group free-style and/or line dances.

THE PLACE

Terranea is a marvelous place. If you have not been here before you will be happy to experience it. You can arrive early and/or come other times to explore it.

Navigation: We are in the Lobby Lounge; as you walk through the main entrance into the foyer, walk to your right and you will be in it (photo with fireplace at the far end).

The 'stage' is to the left as you enter the Lobby Lounge. The glass doors open to the Terrace.

The Bar, which is often packed, is on the opposite side of the fireplace with a back-to-back fireplace of its own. The staff is, as you would expect, excellent. The drinks are, also as you would expect, very interesting.

THE LOGISTICS

Parking is valet or self parking. Free parking is available in the guest lot or along the street leading up to the resort. Watch street signs if you park on the street. The valet parking is expensive and isn't validated. A photo below shows the options: The driveway from Palos Verdes Drive South has a few stop-lines. About halfway in you can see a little kiosk; a 'greeter' is often stationed there. To use valet, or to let someone off at the main door, continue to the "Lobby Bar". For self parking use the same route and return up to the 'greeter's' 'island' where you will turn right into the entrance to the "Trail Parking" (do not park in the lower lot).
