While this is being held at the beginners training ground however it is NOT a beginner outing. Please reach out if you have not camped in cold weather before. Meaning your skills and your gear will be checked, please contact the event host or organizers before you RSVP.
We’ll be seeing you guys at the parking circle at the end of Johnsontown Road for an 5:00pm meeting time.
NO parking at the center circle, you risk being ticketed and/or towed.
The hike is a short one approximately half mile from parking lot to campsite. Head up the trail 200 yards find the white trail makers marked KK head down that, you'll soon come to two streams continue on the path and you find stream number three across it and a short hike up the trail and you're in the campsite. This spot was a true find and has everything needed water, firewood, tent and hammock spots.

The big emphasis on this outing will be FIRE -collecting tinder - prep to spark - how much wood you should collect - to maintaining your fire - and the late-night fire watch. In very cold weather the importance of learning fire can't be stressed enough.
WE ARE ADDING FIRE WATCH TO THIS OUTING

Everyone is expected to take part in this exercise.

This is a cold weather outing the following gear list is needed
- If you have a hot tent, feel free.
-zero-degree sleep system
-warm clothing (layers, speak with an organize if you’re unsure)
-knife
-saw
-head lamp
-2 way radio
-water filter
-gas stove
-your favorite food

VERY IMPORTANT RULES
NO DRUGS NO ALCOHOL NO WEAPONS ARE ALLOWED ON OUTINGS.
WAIVERS MUST BE SIGNED BY ALL WHO WISH TO PARTICIPATE IN THE OUTING.
ALL GARBAGE MUST BE CARRIED OUT TAKE NOTHING BUT PICTURES LEAVE NOTHING BUT FOOT PRINTS

If you have any medical conditions and/or carry any medications for your condition please inform a group leader of said condition and inform us where in your pack you carry your first aid kit and medications as it will speed the process in assisting you should the need arise. We carry first aid kits and trauma kits however it's your responsibility to provide for your own medicine as it’s will be a special needs item.

Last Winter Outing for 2025-2026 season - Its been a while since we did a Hammock Hang Out - but not a must and great time to learn what Hammock System you should buy.
Lake Skannatati parking lot is the start we’ll head up the Teal/Long Path trail, Outing starts 3pm Friday but feel free to arrive as your schedule permits.
It's an easy hike along the lake side on the Long Path heading in a westbound direction. We’ll find a stream that appears out of the mountain that cuts across the trail approx. one mile into the hike. Our campsite is a short walk off the trail from here into the lake side area.

Great views on an easy hike but it's not all fun and games there will be work to prep our camp site from water retrieval to wood processing. As well as proper campsite maintenance is to be strongly enforced to keep the local wildlife out - the hanging of ALL food at night and cleaning up after meals, no scraps of food left out. Putting up food bag lines as soon as camp is set making the process easier at days end for hanging food and garbage bags.

Mandatory equipment on this trip

4 Axe and/or Saw
5 Water filter and bladders
6 Bear spray
7 Preferred sleep systems Hammocks - Tents if you don't have one.
8 Stoves - gas and wood burning
9 Utensils for cooking

This outing has been purposely set close enough to the parking lot so if at any time you feel the outing is becoming too much of a challenge, we can get you back to the cars with ease.

Sunday morning breaking camp at 9am same way we came in same way we'll head out.
