OLD GREAT NORTH ROAD. WORLD HERITAGE WALK

Details
World Heritage Walk features an historic convict built road overlooking the Hawkesbury River.
We start with a long gentle incline up Devines Hill, passing through quarries enriched with graffiti carved into the rocks by the convicts, most of which were shackled by chains.
Up to 720 convicts built the 264 kls of road connecting Sydney to the Hunter Valley. Only 43 kls of the road still remains intact today.
Enough of the history lesson, I'm here to admire the magnificent old convict roads constructed though the mountainside, a remarkable piece of engineering.
The beautiful views of the Hawkesbury River, the historical roads and the scenic walking trails make this a truly unique experience.
The return along Finches Line Track (the original course of the Great North Road) features some of the best lookouts on the Hawkesbury River and the rainforest atmosphere makes it the most remarkable feature of the walk.
Lets meet the train, with me on board, at Windsor Station then convey everyone to the start at Wiseman's Ferry. Compensate the drivers with a free lunch or just contribute to the cost of the petrol. We'll work it out on the day.
Contact me at 0451483009 and I might let you know that the walk is 12kls in total including optional side tracks and we should be out enjoying the surroundings for about four hours, accounting for the climb up Devine's Hill with it's many plaques delving back into the dark convict history and the tricky but beautiful descents on Finch's Line Track.
P.S. If anyone driving could send a message to my phone or just call, then I'll know if we can accommodate the train travelers. Train travellers, just make sure you're at the station on time, no hanging around for stragglers.
P.P.S. Of course I've included the obligatory photos to give you some idea of what you'll be missing if you don't attend.
GRATUITY. I think the train travelers will be the ones giving gratuity to the drivers for their cooperation in getting us all to Wiseman's Ferry. I'm happy to shout morning tea to whoever is willing to put up with me for the journey.
