For those coming by train there is a 7.42 from Blacktown arriving 9.17. Keep in mind there looks to be track work between Parramatta and Blacktown.

Meet 9.30 at the railway car park on the Great Western Highway side of the station to carpool for the drive to the start of the walk.

Glenraphael Drive (Narrowneck Fire Trail) is closed to cars so we will need to walk in which, depending on where we park adds around 90mins to the total walk time but the views along the way are well worth it.

Total distance around 12km, elevation 250m with just the one steep climb on the way in and a gradual climb on the way back out.

Castle Head isn’t particularly well known which is unusual given it offers some of the best views anywhere in the mountains.

Time will be 4-5 hours at a relaxed pace.
Please keep in mind the area is quite exposed and can be very windy so pack accordingly.

We will start and finish as a group maintaining site of those in front and behind so as not to spread out to much.

Option of Pizza and a beverage afterwards at The Station Bar.
