The Patjens Lake Loop Trailhead requires
two types of entry permits between June 15 and October 15 for entering the Mt. Washington Wilderness:

• Day use: A free, self-issue Wilderness Permit, available at the trailhead.Begin near Big Lake and enter into the Mount Washington Wilderness. Patjens Lakes are a series of four small lakes along the southern end of the loop. Along the way, there are awesome views of nearby Mount Washington looming above. As you travel along Big Lake Hayrick Butte and Hoodoo Butte are visible across the lake.

Reviewers highlight stunning views of the Cascade mountains, beautiful wildflowers, and accessible lakes. Challenges include limited shade and mosquitoes in forested areas. Bug spray and hydration are recommended.
