What we’re about
This group is for single people in their 30’s & 40's looking for friends and/or a healthier way to date. It’s difficult to get to know people at this age, especially when you’re single. We hope to create fun, easy going events to help. This isn’t a dating group per se (though relationships happen ;) ... it’s for people who genuinely want to make real life connections.
Community Rules:
- 1. Everyone aged 28-49 are welcome to join.
- 2. Be respectful and kind.
- 3. Be honest and transparent.
- 4. Self-awareness and maturity are expected.
- 5. Do not touch anyone at events without explicit verbal consent from that person.
- 6. No harassing or overly negative, aggressive, or forward behavior.
- 7. Instead of asking for someone’s number, please give them yours so they can decide whether or not to contact you.
- 8. Do not direct message members you don't know or haven't met.
- 9. Discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated. All races, genders, sexual orientations, and lifestyles are welcome.
- 10. Our group is “sex positive” meaning we promote an open, tolerant, and progressive attitude toward consensual sex and sexuality. Shaming will not be tolerated.
- 11. Make sure to change your RSVP to "no" if you can no longer attend an event. If you no-show to 2+ events (leaving your RSVP as "yes" and not showing up) you will be removed from the group.
- 12. Do not show up to events that you're on the waitlist for, or that you haven't RSVP'd for. Only attend events you're on the 'going' list for.
- 13. Members must use their real name (not a pseudonym) and a photo with their face in their Meetup profile. This helps many people feel safer coming to events.
- 14. Anyone with sexual offense or violent criminal convictions are not welcome in our group. If you know of someone who has joined our group that has a sexual or violent criminal history please notify our organizers immediately so we can remove them. All reports will stay anonymous.
>> If a fellow group member has violated one of these rules or made you feel uncomfortable, please let the event host or another organizer (like Kristina, Max or Erin) know as soon as possible.
Other Rules:
- Promoting your business, soliciting members, and/or trying to sell products or services to members is prohibited. This includes promoting dating and relationship services or events that are not affiliated with our group.
- Some events require you to provide your own equipment and supplies (like camping and floating). You must have the basic listed items to attend and the group does not provide them. So please do not RSVP or attend if you do not have your own supplies.
- If you wish to bring a pet, child, or someone under 21 to an event, please ask the event host first.
- Any member that is rude to other members or venue staff will be banned from the group.
PLEASE READ OUR NEW GROUP RULES AND MISCONDUCT POLICY HERE
Age Requirements:
If you are over 28 then you are welcome to join. The upper limit for joining our group is 49. Existing active members may remain in our group till the age of 53. The age limits are to keep everyone in a relatable life stage. Please do not join if you are outside these ages as we've had issues arise recently due generational differences and older men preying on significantly younger women. We do not make individual exceptions to the age the requirements so do not message to ask. If you disclose after you join that you are outside these ages you will be removed and banned from the group.
Harassment and Phishing:
Harassment, phishing, or spamming our members will not be tolerated and you will be removed from the group. That also includes messaging multiple members in an attempt to score a date/hook up. That is phishing and is grounds for removal. Please do not message members you do not already know. This makes people very uncomfortable and is considered predatory behavior. If you are a member and feel like another member is harassing you via direct messaging or in person at our events please notify Kristina, Max, Erin or another group organizer immediately.
We also have a zero tolerance policy for poor behavior at our events or on the online platform. This includes being too forward in asking people out and making them feel uncomfortable. If you ask someone out they do not give you an enthusiastic "yes" then move on and do not ask them out again. Please review our misconduct policy here.
Discord Server:
We have an active Discord server community that is a great way to interact with group member's outside of the events. To join the server you must be an attending member of our Meetup events by having attended at least 1 in person event. Join here: https://discord.gg/tn66X4Qdxv
Interested in hosting events in the PDX Single 30 & 40 Somethings group? We're pretty much always open to new hosts, and the only real prerequisite is having attended a few events with the group recently. Chat with Kristina W, either via message or in person at an event, if you're interested.

See all- Volunteer habitat restoration @ Mary S Young Park 🌳Mary S. Young Park, West Linn, OR
Want to get a little dirty and restore a natural area with like-minded single folks? Let’s get together for an event with SOLVE to help improve wildlife habitat and water quality at this gem of a park.
What to expect
- We'll be removing invasive weeds, planting young native trees and shrubs, mulching native plants, doing trail maintenance and/or and picking up litter — probably a couple of those things that are most needed this time of year at this park.
- Tools, training and gloves will be provided, and you don’t need any prior experience or certain level of strength or anything.
- This event will happen rain or shine.
- We'll be volunteering from 9-12. Let's meet at 8:45 so we can all say hello and find each other.
- Some of us may grab lunch after volunteering. If that sounds fun, chat with folks while we're volunteering and we can figure out who's interested and where to go.
RSVP + register
For this volunteer event, please register at https://volunteer.solveoregon.org/opportunity/a0CVL000025WTnl2AG/mary-s-young-state-park-habitat-restoration to help them prepare for the right number of volunteers (tools, snacks, etc.).Things you may want to bring / wear
- Clothes that will keep you comfortable if it rains (avoid cotton/jeans if you can) and that you don’t mind getting dirty
- Sturdy footwear that can get wet/dirty
- Rain jacket
- Hat
- Water bottle
- Change of clothes/shoes for afterwards, if you’d like
Have to cancel?
If you register and later have to cancel, please update both your RSVP here on Meetup AND in your SOLVE account. That way, someone else can take your spot.Housekeeping
- Please keep your RSVP up to date and check in with Kristina when you arrive so you don't get marked as a no-show. We regularly remove people with 2+ no-shows from the group.
- Make sure to follow the Community Rules in this group's About section. These include no harassing or aggressive behavior, no touching anyone at an event without explicit verbal consent, and using your real name and photo in your Meetup profile. If anyone violates these rules or makes you feel uncomfortable, please let the event host (like Kristina) know or reach out to another group organizer (like Max, Kevin or Erin).
Questions? Comment below or message Kristina.
**P.S. If anyone (who's been to at least a few of our events recently) would be interested in hosting an event in the PDX Single 30 & 40 Somethings group, please reach out to me/Kristina. I'm at maximum capacity for hosting, but I'd love to support more organizers posting more events :-)
- Trivia @ White Owl Social ClubWhite Owl Social Club, Portland, OR
Care to get to know some fellow single folks through your random knowledge of movies, history, food, science, sports, books, and music? Join us!
What to expect at trivia:
- This is Untapped Trivia, which is on paper and typically has some fun rounds with pictures and audio. It's also been voted Portland's best trivia for the last 3 years.
- We'll be on the patio, which is covered and has heaters in the winter and fans in the summer. I'd suggest wearing/bringing layers.
- We'll meet at 6:15 so we can chat, get some drinks and/or food, and grab tables.
- The picnic table you sit at will become your trivia team. Teams can be up to 7 people.
- Trivia starts promptly at 7 pm (but do please show up at 6:15 if you can) and goes until about 9.
- This Meetup group is not hardcore about trivia. We're focused on having fun and getting to know folks on our team... not winning. Don't worry about getting an answer wrong or not knowing any answers.
What to expect now on Meetup:
- The first 20 people to RSVP will go straight to the 'going' list, and after that everyone will go on a waitlist. I'll move some people over from the waitlist, with a priority going to people who will help balance the gender ratio, haven't no-showed before, are fun/friendly regulars, etc. (Paying for the Meetup+ thing doesn't actually do anything to prioritize you on waitlists, FYI.)
Housekeeping:
- As always, let's make sure to be respectful to everyone and support the venue (please plan to order a few food/drink items) so they'll want to have us back.
- Please keep your RSVP up to date and check in with Kristina or cross your name off the sign-in sheet when you arrive so you don't get marked as a no-show.

- OMSI After Dark: Pickle It!Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, Portland, OR
How does meandering around the Oregon Museum of Science (OMSI) at night with a drink or two sound? In addition to the usual museum experience, OMSI After Dark Events feature science demos, performances, and food and beverage vendors offering samples and more. This month’s theme is Pickle It! Unfortunately, this event is not free, and you will need to purchase a ticket online or at the door in order to attend. They offer a couple ticket options. I will be getting the cheapest one which is OMSI After Dark General Admission for $27.00 per person.
From OMSI’s website: “Our third-annual OMSI After Dark: Pickle It! event is back and it’s going to be a really big dill. Pickle It! is a guest favorite, centered on all things fermentation: pickles, kraut, hot sauce, and of course our microbe buddies. Grab your gherkin-loving friends and learn all about fermentation at this bound-to-be-fragrant event!” You can learn more and buy tickets here.
What's the plan?
The event runs from 6-10 p.m. Let's meet up by 5:45 outside the front entrance so we can all find each other before doors open. I will plan to arrive by 5:40 and provide any updates about exact location in the comments. Likely will have a red balloon to make our group easy to spot.Things you will need
-Your ID
-Your ticket (purchased online in advance or at the door)
