What we’re about
Meet gamers from all over town! Come to one of our events to discover new games or play old favorites with new friends. We play all kinds.
This Meetup group is home to multiple event organizers. Each event host, better yet each TEAM of hosts (the best way!), is in charge of the events they post here.
Want to start up an ongoing event/game night, or run a special event? Either post your thoughts in the Discussion space for Portland Area Board Games and RPGs, or contact one of the Organizers/Co-Organizers on the Leadership/Organizers list (see full website/desktop view, not mobile).
Currently Meetup functions a bit differently on the mobile app vs the full website. The website gives users access to a calandar view of events, a page of all event photo albums, and different ways to sort/view members. Both means of access are handy in their own way.
In 2025 organizers began focusing the Membership of this group on active users. All are welcome to join/rejoin any time. To maintain membership users should login/make use of the Portland Area Board Games and RPGs group website at least once every 6 months. Users inactive past that time may find they need to rejoin. No worries. Should that happen to you, you will be welcomed back. :)
Enjoy all your play!
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- GameCon at House on the Hill (board game night in NW PDX/Beaverton)12639 NW Ally Elizabeth Ct, Portland, OR
Come join us to experience a vast array of games, ranging from party games to middleweight and heavyweight games! With 200 games at your disposal and our recurring gamers bringing dozens more, there's no shortage of options to choose from. Our gaming venue has ample space, featuring eight gaming rooms, each equipped with 1 to 3 tables, accommodating up to 4 to 8 players per table.
Our community is very welcoming and a great place to make friends, for new and experienced gamers alike. We can help you find a group to play with when you arrive, or let you explore! With the event running from 4 PM to 1 AM, there's practically no limit to how long the games can run. It's a great place to break out your lengthy, heavier weight games, but also wonderful for playing lots of shorter party games and everything in between.
Lana founded House on the Hill in July 2021. Our first event had just 12 attendees, but with steady advertisement and community-building efforts, we've grown to over 50 attendees, many of whom have been attending for over two years. We typically receive around 10 new attendees at each event.
BEFORE THE EVENT
Join our active Discord, where regulars and new attendees chat about the next event, side events, and a plethora of other fun topics. You can schedule games or arrange carpools. On Discord, please make your username your name or nickname so other members know who you are. It really helps find people at the event! You may want to bring:
- board games
- snacks to share
- cat/dog allergy meds (we have 2 long-haired cats. The flooring is mostly non-carpet)
NAVIGATING GAME NIGHT
Please make a name tag when you arrive, and feel free to grab food & drinks. Folks tend to socialize for the first 30 minutes, and new games start every 20-30 minutes. If you have any questions during the event (including needing help finding a game to play/join), you can ask in the general chat on Discord, or ask one of our hosts (Lana, Jeanette, or Kevin) or a regular attendee (many of our attendees will be able to help!)
FOOD INFO
We provide snacks, drinks, and hot food. We encourage you to bring your favorite foods to share as well. If you bring enough for 10-15 people, that's awesome!GAMES INFO
Join scheduled games on Discord, bring games (especially ones you can teach), or feel free just to show up and choose a game to play; there are over 200 games here to choose from. You can also see games other attendees bring, chat about your favorites, and more on Discord!List of all board games that we have at the house: https://geekgroup.app/users/gameconathoh/collection

PATREON (optional!)
Instead of implementing a door fee, we decided to go this direction. Please choose an option that is appropriate for your budget; we understand not everyone can participate in this way. Please don't feel bad; we value all of you! <3
Cost
You can sign up for as little as $5/month, which would be $2.50 per event. We also have other options, like $25/month.

You can cancel your subscription at any time for any reason.OTHER EVENTS
