What we’re about
Welcome to the Perth GitHub User Group! Join us to connect with like-minded developers and engineers who are passionate about sharing knowledge, best practices and all things Git, DevOps, Continuous Delivery, and Information Security.
The Perth GitHub User Group is a non-profit association of people who are interested in GitHub and its tools and products. We aim to gather once a month where we have a speaker sharing their knowledge and experience to help others find success using GitHub. We also have a chance to socialise with snacks provided by our sponsors.
Our group promotes a platform for learning, networking, and career growth opportunities. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned professional, we invite you to join us for engaging discussions, hands-on workshops, and networking events. Let's collaborate and elevate our skills together!

See all- My Agentic Coding Journey - The Workshop - with Andy SpamerMicrosoft office Perth CBD, Perth
So many of you loved Andy Spamer's [pronounced: Spay-Mer] Talk at AgentCon - that we asked him to come back and deliver a workshop on the same topic - and he said Yes!
Bring your laptop — this is not a sit-back-and-listen session.
In this workshop, Andy will walk you through his personal journey into the world of AI, LLMs, and Agentic Coding — starting from those first tentative prompts to ChatGPT-3 asking for help with small code snippets, all the way to building an end-to-end prompting framework for real-world agentic coding workflows. We’ll explore what worked (spoiler: not everything), what face-plants taught me the most, and how you can shortcut your own learning curve.
Expect practical demos, live prompting, and a chance to get hands-on with building AI-assisted developer workflows. This is where curiosity meets code — and where theory turns into tooling.
Date: 28th August 2025
Time: 17:00-19:30 (Workshop starts at 17:30)

- October Meetup | git config --make-git-work-for-you with Jordan DuabeMicrosoft office Perth CBD, Perth
One of the first things you do after installing git is setting up your name and email address. What other options are available to customise your git usage?
In this talk, Jordan explores some uncommon (and interesting) git configuration settings that cover quality of life changes like autocorrect and aliases, workflow specific settings like fixup commits and autosquashing for rebase, and "Conditional Includes" for advanced use cases.
With these options you can get git to work in the way that fits your workflow.
