Existentialism.

"Existentialism is a family of philosophical views and inquiry that explore the human individual's struggle to lead an authentic life despite the apparent absurdity or incomprehensibility of existence. In examining meaning, purpose, and value, existentialist thought often includes concepts such as existential crises, angst, courage, and freedom."

You could be forgiven thinking the world has gone mad with recent events, and with the amount of information and change all around that there is no meaning to anything and it's all an absurd joke at its best and at its worst the cesspit of utter Nihilism and Hedonism.

Are we fools to make meaning out of this cacophony of absurdity, or is there actually a rhyme to this seemingly irrational unreasonableness?

In this discussion we will be discussing some of the core tenets of existentialism, some of the more prominent practitioners, Friedrich Nietzsche, Soren Kierkegaard, and asking some hard questions about existentialism.

  • Can we actually make reason of this thing can reality and life.
  • Is it a good substitute for rationalism
  • Are personal freedom, individual responsibility, and deliberate choice, essential to the pursuit of self-discovery and the determination of life's meaning

If your interested in finding out more come along with your curious mind to the Earl of Leicester Hotel at 6pm on Tues 1 April 2025 for some deep discussion and interesting insights!, who knows it may even be the answer to that existential crisis that you've been meaning to have.
