Dinner and discussion: "Descending into Ideology"

"Descending into Ideology"
Is a world democracy possible?
The world, its civilizations and cultures have progressed in many ways since the time we first roamed the savanna's of the world and first began to utilise tools, develop language, spread out into the world and ultimately begin to cooperate in meaningful ways.
Out of that cooperation as tumultuous as it has been, including two world wars and countless internal country conflicts, with different philosophies and cultures a political philosophy has emerged that in principle allows for the voice of all individuals to be heard and counted in the governance of their environment.
However as the world has moved toward a global democracy, with attempts of building global institutions that support the nurturing and growth of such a system such as the World Health Organisation etc. It seems our very own nature is at odds with the development of that system.
Recent events have shown that even countries that have embodied the values of the freedoms of a world system that would in principle provide world of cooperation, equality and prosperity for all, with all the right environmental factors can fall back into ideological authoritarian ways against the will of the people.
In this discussion we will be discussing
- the factors that bring about ideological political system,
- what are the factors that prevent a world system of government
- whether humans by there very nature are capable of sustaining such a system
- what would need to be there for it to occur
I look forward to seeing you and sharing your wisdom as we explore this interesting subject.
Steve :)
