The Trolley Problem

There are no right/wrong answers to the trolley problem, conceived in 1967 by Philippa Foot and the purpose of this enquiry is to explore, recognise and accept your own personal moral and ethical positions in difficult circumstances.

The objective of this hypothetical discussion, grounded in the principles of the trolley problem, is to ensure that all questions and responses remain strictly within the defined parameters of the scenario. Participants are expected to answer only the questions posed, without introducing unrelated factors or reframing the problem. Failing to answer the questions directly, or substituting them with different ones, undermines the purpose of exploring the intended moral and logical reasoning inherent in the trolley problem framework.
