Reading Group: History of Philosophy of Science (Ch. 5: Medieval Period)

Details

In this series, we are working through John Losee’s book, A Historical Introduction to the Philosophy of Science, one bite at a time. Your facilitator, Les Allan, will begin each session with a summary of the section under consideration and then move into a moderated discussion of the section. Some prior knowledge of the history of science will stand you in good stead; especially some reading in the history of physics, chemistry and cosmology. To facilitate discussion, please ensure you read the designated section before you attend the session.

You can obtain a print copy of Losee’s book on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/Historical-Introduction-Philosophy-Science-4th/dp/0198700555 or a softcopy at https://au1lib.org/book/550714/673428

For this third session, we'll be discussing Chapter 5 on 'Affirmation and Development of Aristotle’s Method in the Medieval Period' (pp. 26–38). For a chapter summary and ancillary notes, go to www.RationalRealm.com/philosophy/reviews/historical-introduction-philosophy-science.html
