Horseshoe Junction 3-Hour Score-O and Classic

We have treat for your navigation entertainment in the Phoenix area. On Sunday, February 22, we're presenting a 3-hour Score-O at another new event site at the junction of Bartlett Lake Road and Horseshoe Dam Road, northeast of Cave Creek, AZ. While the course is not near either reservoir, it still benefits from the complex drainages, hills, and desert vegetation in the area surrounding the Verde River valley. At a slightly higher elevation than the reservoirs, the vegetation is a little more prickly. Be sure to bring a comb to help extract any stray cholla that might grab you on the way by. For those looking for a less aggressive experience, we're also offering a shorter point-to-point course with easier control locations. We hope you'll consider joining us for another day of navigation fun.

Fees: Orienteering Club Member donation: $10/person. Non-Member donation: $15/person.

What to bring:

• Whistle (Mandatory for all. Available for $1)
• Compass (Mandatory for all. Available to rent for $1)
• Water. (Water is NOT available at the start/finish . We also DO NOT have water stations on the course. You are strongly encouraged to bring your own water bottles or a camelback.)
• Long pants are recommended (scrub brush and cactus)
• Sun screen (While there is shade on all the courses, we encourage you to protect yourself from sunburn.)
• Sturdy hiking shoes
