Laravel 11 & VueJS ecosystem updates by Max Snow & Harlan Wilton
Brief updates on both ends of the spectrum.

10 dope things you can add to your Laravel app right now using AWS by
Mitchell Davis

  • This is a brand new talk where I will go through a bunch of awesome functions you can add to your app using AWS.
  • We have personally used each of these functions on internal or client projects, so these are coming from experience with how useful they are.
  • It should appeal to Laravel developers of all experience levels, as there are a bunch of hidden gems you can get up and running quickly with on AWS.
  • The goal will be to show how to use all of these aspects inside a Laravel application, mostly using a simple routes file, like Taylor does with his demos.
  • This will help keep the talk focused on just the AWS aspects and how easy it is to get setup.

Programming as knowhow-building by Daniel Buckmaster

  • A program is not only source code, but also knowhow that lives in the minds of the programmers.
  • Having knowhow of a program means that a programmer can:
  • Explain the mapping between parts of the program and parts of the requirements,
  • Justify why the program works a certain way, and not another way, and
  • Respond constructively to requests to modify the program.
  • Building knowhow of a program cannot be done by only reading source code and documentation, but must be done by practise, ideally with a programmer who already has knowhow of that program. Without a programmer that already has knowhow of the program, building it will be a difficult and time-consuming process.
  • Managers who don’t understand knowhow will be surprised by the cost of program modification. They will not be equipped to judge when to revive legacy code or when to start from a clean slate.

Could be some surprise lightning talks!
