What we’re about
Piccadilly Ski Club is a Chicago non-profit skiing, snowboarding and activity club based in the Chicago western suburbs. We are a friendly and adventurous group and like to keep active, socialize and travel. We welcome single people and couples to join us. Ages in our club range from 30 to 70, very active adults. Piccadilly members reside in the Downers Grove and surrounding areas, even as far away as South Carolina, Arkansas and Florida.
Since we plan events all year round, there are many opportunities to meet and make new friends through a wide variety of activities, such as skiing, golf, biking, social gatherings, and trips. In our 50+ year history, Piccadilly has planned hundreds of events locally, and traveled the globe extensively. We've taken ski trips throughout the US and Canada, as well as Europe and New Zealand. Non-ski adventures in our club’s travel history have taken us to Antigua, Costa Rica, Curacao, Dominican Republic, Finger Lakes NY, Jamaica, Key West, Mexico, Nashville and New Orleans. Join us today to make new friends and go on your next great adventure.
Club Meetings start at 7:00pm on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays from August thru April; and during the summer months we meet the first Thursday in May, June & July at Miller's Ale House, 455 E Butterfield Road in Lombard, Illinois.

“Get Your Mardi Gras On (the River)” Bill & Ted are back once again for another Excellent Kayak Adventure on the Fox River, Saturday July 19. This year’s theme will piggyback off the Banquet with the return of a Mardi Gras theme…so get your beads flying for a water adventure. Our adventure also coincides with the Yorkville River Fest, where we can conclude our day with food and drink, craft beers, and live country music. Non-water going folks are welcome to join us at the festival at the end of the trip.
The Kayak Adventure will run from the Montgomery Dam to the Yorkville Dam. It is a leisurely and scenic paddle down the Fox River. The adventure usually lasts 4-5 hours. Meet at 10:00 am in the parking lot at Bicentennial Riverfront Park in Yorkville, which is the trip’s endpoint. We will shuttle everyone to the start point at South Broadway Park in Montgomery, and put in just below the dam. Our lunch stop will be at Hudson Crossing Park in Oswego. Paddlers must supply their own food, water, and other beverages for the entire journey. Feel free to bring along any fun props or kayak decorations. Both porta-potties and potable water are available at the lunch stop. We will take out just above the Yorkville Dam at Bicentennial Riverfront Park in Yorkville.
The Yak Shack has 17 kayaks reserved for Piccadilly, first come, first served. There are also 20 canoes available for rent if a canoe is desired or if the kayaks are sold out.You must call the Yak Shack at (630) 479-8074 to reserve for Saturday July 19 and tell them you are with “Piccadilly Ski Club” to get the bargain rate of $35 for single person Kayaks and/or $50 for two-person canoes. We will sign waivers and pay for the watercraft at the beginning of the adventure. Our reservation hold ends on July 11, after which watercraft will be released for rental to the general public. The rental includes life jackets, paddles, delivery and pickup of the watercraft.
When you have completed your reservation, please sign up on Meetup to give others an idea of who is going. If you have your own watercraft, we encourage you to join our trip at no cost. You will be responsible for coordinating your own watercraft drop off and pick up. Indicate in Meetup comments if you plan to bring your own watercraft.
The trip will go rain or shine, in the absence of lightning, assuming river conditions are favorable. Email trourk25@outlook.com or bciciora@yahoo.com for any additional information about this excellent adventure.
