What we’re about
We have a monthly online meeting for conversation and support for those interested in a whole-food plant based diet. Members occasionally host potlucks or other events.
For optimum health, our potlucks feature nutrient dense plant-based whole foods: beans and lentils, fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds. We also encourage dishes to be SOS-free, (no added salt, oil, or sugar). A whole-food plant-based diet is also a low-carbon diet, and choosing to eat this way is one of the most effective actions an individual can take to lower their carbon footprint.
If you live in the Portland area, please join us at our potlucks to share a meal where every dish promotes our own health, and the health of the planet. We discuss the details of the food we brought to the potluck, share recipes, and go around the room each time to share our personal stories, discoveries, and challenges. It is such a pleasure to gather with other like-minded people for a meal where every dish is truly health-promoting, everyone is cheering you on towards your health goals, and where we can learn and share about the connections between food and climate change.
We occasionally have food demonstrations or hands-on experiences with kitchen tools, and like to share ways to make food prep easier and more efficient.

OnlineWhat's on your mind about food? Join us for our monthly online conversation about whole food plant-based living.
Let's make cooking easier in the New Year with Portland chef Linda Tyler's new cookbook as our guide. The book is "Cook Once, Eat Better: A Flexible Plant-Based Meal-Prep System", and it contains "12 weeks of plans, 50+ recipes, weekly shopping lists, 5 cooking guides, and a lifetime of healthy habits." Follow Linda's suggestions during January, and we'll discuss our experiences with the first four weeks at our January Zoom meeting.
The book is available in digital and paper format. Read more about it at https://www.graciousvegan.com/cook-once-eat-better
Let's also share our concerns and successes, and what we've learned recently -- cookbooks and recipes, food prep and cooking tips, and news about local restaurants.
The Zoom link will be sent shortly before the event to those who RSVP. Please note that your personal settings on Meetup must be set to receive email in order to receive the Zoom link. Looking forward to seeing you online! If you are not able to attend, please update your RSVP.2 attendees
