This small-group photoshoot goes beyond making “pretty pictures” and digs into how images actually communicate feeling and story. Working with one model across multiple lighting setups, we’ll explore how camera distance, framing, and proximity shape emotional response, creating intimacy, tension, or deliberate detachment. The goal is to help you see distance as a storytelling tool, not just a technical choice, and to consciously guide how a viewer experiences an image. You’ll leave with a clearer visual vocabulary and practical ways to expand the emotional range of your work."

Our model for the afternoon is Emma, one of my new favorite collaborators. Give her a follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/emmpocalypse/

This is a small group workshop limited to five photographers only who are looking to explore the more creative side of photography. No previous experience is required. It will be a supportive, judgment-free environment. I'll help you through the process. You'll get some great shots for your portfolios, and you'll get to benefit from watching the other photographers work. But mostly, it will just be fun!

I'll take care of the lighting. Bring your camera, memory card, and a fully charged battery, and that's pretty much all you need. Before you come, learn how to set your shutter speed, aperture, and ISO in manual mode for your camera. If you are using a mirrorless camera, know how to disable the simulated live view so you can shoot with flash.

This is a small group shoot limited to 5 photographers only. As I post this, two of those spots are already taken. There is a cost of $99 to cover studio rental and model fees.
