Portland City and Trail Walking Meetup Group

I wanted to test a new route for a walk from the edge of town up through Washington Park to see the international Rose test Garden at Peak bloom. there is also a new fountain over the reservoir to be seen on the way up. we will also hit Lewis and Clark statue and Sacagawea statue, maybe The Secret Garden, and when we get to the Rose Garden we will give everyone at least 30 minutes to be negotiated to look at roses and maybe sit down for a few minutes at the amphitheater next to it. we will try to do about 4 MI and finish right at noon. I will certainly grab lunch nearby if anyone wants to join me at noon.

Parking! I usually pick something with a huge free parking lot, but in this area you may need to pay for 2 hours of parking, or you can make use of free parking at RingSide Steakhouse which is only open at dinner. and I'll leave it up to you if you think you can park at Elephants Delicatessen which is where we will start and end. maybe purchase something to justify using their parking for 2 hours. you got this!

About 5 miles out-and-back from the Holman Lane trailhead next to 3509 NW Raleigh St up to the Pittock Mansion for some beautiful city views. Lots of uphill climbing (833 feet).

Meet outside Jim & Patty's Coffee, 2021 NW Miller Rd, Portland 97229. We'll walk the trails within the Forest Heights neighborhood. About 4 hilly miles with 700 feet of elevation.

Our continued goal is to have a nice walk on a Saturday that ends at a food and drink venue with a nicer than average patio! (our mission statement). we will attack Mount Tabor Park again but this time from the north side and we will walk for 4 miles up some pretty long stairs and some pretty flat terrain for some nice views. we will arrive at the Bellwether bar at noon (next to the starting point) just in time to snag some tables at their awesome patio and slightly fancy foodie snacks and cocktails. We are pretty light drinkers and many people just opt for water. they have a bunch of shareable small plates so hopefully we can share! (not required) and they have some burgers and entrees. The weather should be a little warmer than normal but we are getting it done all before it gets really hot in the late afternoon.
