Thinking About Risk

Thanks to everyone who came to our November Monday night meetup! We enjoyed meeting all the new people, and we took a bunch of notes on ideas people had for future events. The schedule is open for January and beyond, so if you'd like to sign up for one of those, let us know and we'll try to figure it out!

Also, if you want to schedule an ad-hoc activity of any kind with other FIRE folk, let us know, and we can get it on the schedule. It doesn't have to be large, if you just want a few people to meet for a walk or whatnot, that's great.

For December's Monday night meetup:

I've been thinking about risk a lot lately: the risk of running out of money, the risk of unexpected events, and the risk of missing out on important life experiences. I also think a natural non-FIRE reaction to early retirement is, "That's risky!"

I'll have a few structured thoughts to share about this to get the meeting going. But then I think some open discussion in smaller groups would be cool to see what people think about this topic.
