What we’re about
This is a group for Millennials/Gen Y folks who want to get out around Portland and meet more people. As one of the group's organizers (Hi, I'm Jay [they/them]!), this group has helped to create friendships and community for myself and others. Follow us on Instagram (@portlandmillennialsmeetup) for more happenings around Portland beyond our events.
I strive toward planning low-barrier and inclusive events, meaning that people of all backgrounds and abilities can participate. I look for opportunities for low cost and alcohol-free activities. Unfortunately, option can be limited by weather and venues suitable for our size group to hang out. I encourage anyone in the community who is interested in planning additional events to contact me. More organizers and more events are very welcome!
The values of this group are anti-racist and welcoming to people of all genders, sexual orientations, cultures, abilities, and neurodivergence. I try to approach conflict with curiosity and encourage the practice of "calling in" someone in response to a prejudiced comment, but harassment or disrespectful behavior is not tolerated.
The group's age demographic provides a common ground for building community within our cohort. Please reach out if you fall outside of Gen Y and are having trouble finding meetup groups.
A few more guidelines: If you sign up for an event, please try to keep to your commitment. If your plans change at any time, you should change your RSVP status. Members who have been inactive (i.e. haven't visited the website) for 3+ years will be removed from the group, but can rejoin at any time.
Wait lists: Some events fill up fast, but please join the wait list if you're interested in coming. People often get moved off the wait list. If there's a long wait list, I'll know to host a similar event soon.
Looking forward to meeting everyone and getting out and about!

See all- Trash Clean-up w/ Rubbish Portland @ Sacred ProfaneSacred Profane Brewery and Tankpub, Biddeford, ME
If I said this is going to be good clean fun, I’d be lying. Because TRASH! Let’s help pick up around the downtown Biddeford with the Rubbish Project.
We’ll meet at Sacred Profane at 5pm and head out to pickup trash as soon as everyone arrives.
Register to participate here (FREE)!

Kid Friendly • Planet Friendly • Dog Friendly • Dress for the weather!
About Rubbish Portland:
“Rubbish clean-up efforts are a collaboration between Saltwater Classroom and GoGo Refill and take place in and around Portland, Maine. Together, we create fun and educational experiences centered around community trash reduction and low-waste living. Each event, we partner with local businesses to not only host our clean-up, but provide drink specials and a raffle for volunteers as well.”I'll post updates in the comments so keep an eye out for those notifications. This event is weather permitting. Stay home if you're feeling ill or exposed to someone sick.
- Dancing @ Bubba's (Pre-drinks at Bar Publica)Bar Publica, Portland, ME
FIRST, meet us at Bar Publica at 8pm for a drink or two. We'll hang out and get to know each other. Then around 9-9:30pm we'll walk 5 minutes to Bubba's Sulky Lounge. Cover for Bubba's is $5 cash and it's cash only at the bar.
Bar Publica has their food and drink menu here.
Bubba's is legendary for its tacky decor and light-up dance floors. Saturdays are their "everything" night (disco, pop, R&B, etc).
Safety! It's tempting to set your drink on a table while your dancing, but please keep it with you or finish it before leaving it somewhere. Please plan your transportation safely and responsibly. Portland is overall a very safe city, but I've gotten feedback that not everyone feels safe walking in this neighborhood alone. Just keep this in mind whether you decide to walk, drive, or take public transit.
I'll post updates in the comments, so keep an eye out for those notifications. Critical mass for this event will be 4 people. Stay home if you're feeling ill or exposed to someone sick.
- Walk & Lunch @ Orchard Ridge FarmOrchard Ridge Farm, Gorham, ME
Let’s get out to the farm for fresh air! Orchard Ridge Farm has a 1 mile trail around its perimeter that we can take a stroll on, and then we'll grab lunch at their country store. The country store serves hot food and a variety of beverages: menus here. Here's a map of the farm.
This event is weather permitting, but they also have a covered picnic area. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed at the farm this time of year.
