Gypsy Jazz = Beautiful music with dangerous rhythms!

Djangolaya is an acoustic jazz group with an international flair made up of DC area musicians celebrating the musical styles that were pioneered by Django Reinhardt in Paris between the Great Wars. Part French cafe, part New Orleans jazz, part Latin nightclub, Djangolaya draws on a wide range of musical influences to present a unique blend of old and new sounds. Imagine an afternoon at a bistro, or a sidewalk cafe or a winery, it's music for dancing, or simply enjoying good times with your PRJC friends.

Djangolaya was founded in 2014 at Django in June, a music camp dedicated to the music of Django Reinhardt. While at this annual gathering of amazing musicians in Massachusetts, three musicians discovered that they actually lived only a few minutes from each other in the Maryland suburbs of Washington. Drawing on relationships with friends and other great musicians, Djangolaya presents a wide range of musical configurations from an intimate duo to a six piece ensemble that really swings.

PRJC's montly concerts are held at Rosensteel Hall in Silver Spring. Blocks from the Forest Gen Metro (red line), the venue offers plenty of parking, ample seating around a spacious dance floor, and a cash bar serving beverages and snacks. We've been offering early jazz to the DC area for 54 years. Join us in keeping live jazz going in the DC area!

Admission: PRJC members ($20 (this means dues-paying members of PRJC, not this free Meetup group), General admission $25 at door, $22.50 if purchased online in advance. Youth with valid student IDs: Free. Sales at door are by cash, check or PayPal only.
