Power BI for the Energy sector (revisited)!!

Details

In July, we're returning our attention to Power BI applications for the energy sector with the following sessions:

  1. JOEL GALLAGHER - Solar Panels & Power BI: one homeowners attempt to make sense of the data.
After finally installing a shiny new home solar system, I wanted to dig deeper into its data and performance. This talk will go through the process of extracting the usage data and finding insights via Power BI.

  2. MIMOUNE DJOUALLAH - Building http://nemtracker.github.io/ a dashboard to track Australia Electricity Market Using BigQuery

For a project we needed to extract data that changed every 5 minutes. At that time Power BI Premium Per User licensing was not available, thus we end up using BigQuery as a low-cost solution (less than $1/month). This demonstration will walk through the approach used to build the ETL process (Storage, Python Functions, Dataform, and BigQuery ). And the advantage of using a database to centrally store data, I will show different scenarios on how to visualize the results in Power BI/ Streamlit/ Google Data Studio.
