(Internal) Product in the Enterprise: the good, the bad, and the ugly

Details

When you read an article about product management, do you immediately think “that’s a great idea, I’m going to try it out right away!”

Or do you think “that’s great for a tech company in silicon valley, but it will never work at an insurance company in Des Moines!”

Most product management articles implicitly assume a B2C tech company setting. Except there are a lot of tech-enabled organizations that write and use software - but don’t sell it - that are adopting product management. Think of organizations in industries like insurance, financial services, retail (the physical kind), healthcare, and even government.

Since there are a lot of product people around central Iowa in those contexts, we thought we’d take the opportunity to share some stories about what aspects of product management work great, and not so great, in enterprises that build and use software for their own purposes.

This will be a Product(Fish)Tank discussion that will start with some experienced Central Iowa product people sharing their experiences. (Names announced soon)

Then we’ll expand it out to give you a chance to add your experiences, give a hot take, or ask that question you’ve never had a chance to ask before.

Thanks to this month's sponsor Source Allies for hosting the meeting.
