Intro to Tandem Whitewater Canoeing
Details
For individuals with little or no moving water/whitewater canoeing experience. This course aims to introduce basic skills and techniques needed to manoeuvre through whitewater rapids. Emphasis will be placed on canoe skills, understanding whitewater principles and river safety. Successful participants will receive a Paddle Canada Introduction to Moving Water certification. A partner is not required. Pairs will be arranged by instructors. Pre-requisites include: Ability to paddle a tandem canoe from both bow and stern positions in flat water. Comfort swimming in moving water.
Both solo and tandem beginner training will be offered three times: 30 May – 1 June, 6-8 June and 5-6 July. There is an all-day in-town preparatory session for all beginners on Saturday May 10.
